We arrived in Salisbury via the A303 from London completely famished so grabbed a tasty bite at a friendly little cafe called Charlie's. Our charming waitress asked us where we were from and what had brought us to her town, because she was surprised it was worth the trip. Maybe she was just being humble. That understated vibe, so foreign to Americans, permeated our recent trip to England. We kicked off our historic site seeing tour at the magnificent Salisbury Cathedral, whi
